Green Health at Daventry supports those with mental health and anxiety issues by helping them to take part in horticultural and environmental work at the Community Gardens, which are located at Daneholme Allotments on Welton Road.

The project offers a valuable learning experience, and promotes environmental awareness, healthy eating and social interaction, all with the aim of improving mental and physical wellbeing.

Under the expert supervision of Tony Newby, an experienced Country Park Ranger, the volunteers have been working hard throughout the winter and spring to prepare the garden for the summer harvests of flowers, plants, herbs, soft fruit and vegetables.

Visitors to the open day included Mayor of Daventry, Cllr Mike Arnold, who said, “Green Health at Daventry is a brilliant scheme which helps people experience the many benefits of gardening. The beautiful displays here at the Community Gardens are a great testament to the hard work and passion of the Green Health volunteers.”

The Green Health Project is an informal partnership between Daventry Town Council, Daventry District Council and Green Health at Daventry, a local community group which is supported by Rethink Mental Illness.
