Cricket: Back-to-back tons for Coles continues Bourton and Frankton’s winning run

Centuries from Dale Coles and Daniel McManus set Bourton and Frankton on their way to a fourth successive friendly victory, this time away at good friends Crick Lions.

Batting first, the visitors made 275 for 3 off their allotted overs; openers Coles and McManus retiring not out having reached exactly 100, the former making his second ton in successive weeks. Mick Waller added a late 25 with ‘Bomber’ taking all three wickets for Crick.

In reply, the hosts were bowled out for 86 with Richard Parsons and Mark Whitehead taking 4 for 18 and 4 for 25 respectively. Bomber top scored with the bat for Crick making 23 and Exton made 18 as Willoughby turned the tables on last month’s defeat to the hosts by 189 runs.

  • The week before saw a possible club record broken as Bourton and Frankton defeated visitors Stoneleigh at The Field by 133 runs.

Dale Coles was the man at the centre of attention as he notched up a knock of 150, which included 13 boundaries and five maximums and is possibly the highest individual innings in the club’s long history. That impressive stay at the crease led B & F’s total of 264 for 3 with James McDowell and George Smith also getting in on the act with 52 and 50 respectively. Jay Patel’s 2 for 54 the pick of the seven Stoneleigh bowlers used.

In reply, the visitors reached 131 all out at the close, Srinivasan Ananthan making a top score of 34 and Albie Waterton 28 as Mick Waller, Mark Whitehead and Iain Stockdale all took two wickets.
