The founder of three health inspired Daventry businesses has been recognised in the Carlsberg UK Northamptonshire Food and Drink Awards 2019/20.
Chery Thallon, who is the managing director of ethical vitamins company Viridian Nutrition, and co-owns Sheaf Street Health Store, and artisan bakery and evening pizzeria Bread and Circus, was named a winner of the ‘Food &Beverage Achiever of the Year’ (sponsored by Howes Percival LLP).
Cheryl launched Viridian Nutrition in 1999 with the aim bringing health and nutrition to the whole family through clean vitamins and supplements, and sustainable sourcing of ingredients.
Her vision to lead change in the health food industry, saw Viridian bring the purest and most ethical supplements to the market under the principles of purity, charity and the environment. This included unveiling pioneering initiatives such as starting the deposit return scheme to encourage recycling of glass bottles – setting a new standard within the supplements industry.
Viridian Nutrition now supplies an award-winning range of 200+ supplements to specialist health food stores all over the UK/Ireland and via 26 international distributors.
Cheryl is also keen advocate of the community and as a result opened two stores in Daventry town centre to help bring back shoppers to the High Street in her adopted hometown.
She said: “I’m honoured to accept this prestigious award on behalf of the teams across my three Daventry businesses, Viridian Nutrition, Sheaf Street Health Store and Bread & Circus Artisan bakery & pizzeria.”
Together with husband Shaun, in 2016 they opened the 1,800squ ft Sheaf Street Health Store featuring a yoga/pilates studio, demo kitchen and lecture space to help bring a healthy experience to the town. Bread & Circus, a 32-seater artisan bakery/cafe and evening pizzeria, opened in 2019 to offer a unique and fresh food experience.
Editors note: Congratulations Cheryl on this well-deserved award! And for your support of Daventry Radio!
