Daventry District Sports Awards winners announced

- Daventry News - Daventry District Sports Awards winners announced
Local sporting heroes from across Daventry District have been honoured for a year of achievements at an awards ceremony.
Northampton Saints player Tommy Freeman was on hand to present the accolades at the Daventry District Sports Awards, which took place at Daventry Leisure Centre on Thursday, 24 October.
Dozens of clubs, groups and individuals were nominated across 11 categories, with more than 130 people attending the annual ceremony, hosted by BBC Northampton’s Martin Heath.
The event, now in its 17th year was hosted by Daventry District Council’s leisure partner Everyone Active.
The winners were:
Community Club of the Year: Daventry Tigers
Community Sports/Activity Group of the Year: Moulton Masters FC
Team of the Year: Daventry Tigers’ Mini Ninja’s – Isabel McDowell, Alara Yildirim, Caoimhe Adams and Daniella Kaufman
Coach of the Year: Mark Robson
Volunteer of the Year: Saffron Small
Young Leader of the Year: Mabelle Gwilliam
Sport School of the Year: Overstone Primary School
Disabled Sportsperson of the Year: Eliza Humphrey
Young Sportsperson of the Year: Selina Yildirim
Local Sportsperson of the Year: Tom Symons
Lifetime Contribution to Sport: John Love
Councillor Alan Hills, Daventry District Council’s Community, Culture and Leisure Portfolio Holder, said: “It is always fantastic to see so many people of all ages, representing different clubs, groups and schools at these awards. I would like to congratulate all the winners and nominees on their magnificent achievements.”

Congratulations from Everyone Active to all the well deserving winners at the 17th annual edition of these awards.
“We’re lucky to have such a range of talented and inspiring sports teams, clubs, groups and individuals in Daventry and it’s great we were able to celebrate and reward that last night.”
