On Friday 28th June 2019 at 12 noon, Daventry Town Council will be showing support for Armed Forces Day by raising the Armed Forces flag at the Twinning Area in Daventry.
Armed Forces Day offers an opportunity to show support and appreciation for the men and women of the Armed Forces community. This includes troops who are currently serving, as well as veterans, cadets and service families.
The UK Armed Forces consist of the Royal Navy, British Army and Royal Air Force, who work around the globe to defend the country and its interests. Their work includes promoting peace, delivering aid and tackling drug smugglers, and the support shown on Armed Forces Day provides a much-valued morale boost for troops and their families.
Cllr Mike Arnold, Mayor of Daventry, said of the event, “We are proud to mark Armed Forces Day in Daventry, which is home to many who currently serve in the forces and many who have previously served. By raising the flag, we show our support and thanks for Armed Forces personnel and their families, both at home and abroad.”
All are welcome to attend the flag raising ceremony, which will be followed by afternoon tea between 12:30pm and 4:00pm at the New Street Centre.
Armed Forces Day officially falls on Saturday 29th June, 2019. Further information as well as a full list of national events can be found at https://www.armedforcesday.org.uk.
