- Daventry News - Early Morning Queues
For the second day running there has been scenes of large queues outside of the towns supermarkets as the current advice not to panic is ignored.
The public at large ignoring this advice has led to Tesco limiting many items to one per shopper, in many instances removing items from their customers baskets and trolleys at the checkout [meaning these members of staff are not available to replenish the shelves.]
Yates Diane posted images of the queue outside Tesco on New Street in Daventry at around 07.45 this morning on to the Daventry & Surrounding Area Crime watch Page.
After chatting with some of the supermarkets ‘off the record’, the general message is that stocks are plentiful, however shelves cannot be replenished as quick as they are being emptied due to the sheer volume of people choosing to ignore the best advice of not panic buying and buying in moderation..
As with the example given on why we shouldn’t overwhelm the NHS, the same stands for the food supply chains. Panic buying and stockpiling will only add to an already difficult situation. If everyone were to follow the advice given, such scenes would not be commonplace. We are all in this together.
