A free annual fitness membership is up for grabs for those who nominate a deserving winner of a Daventry District Sports Award ahead of this month’s deadline.

Run by Everyone Active in partnership with Daventry District Council, the annual Daventry District Sports Awards aim to celebrate the wealth of sporting talent in Daventry District.

People are encouraged to showcase their club, team or school or to recognise local athletes, coaches or volunteers by nominating them for an award.

If their nominee is shortlisted for any of the 11 awards, they will be entered into a prize draw with a chance of winning an annual fitness membership at Daventry Leisure Centre.

The deadline for nominations for this year’s awards is midday on Sunday 29 September.

There are eleven categories recognising the best community club, activity group, team, coach, volunteer, young leader, school, young sportsperson and disabled sportsperson of the year. There is also an award for best overall sportsperson, and a Lifetime Contribution to Sport award.

The awards, which feed into the regional heats of the BBC Sports Personality of the Year, will be presented at a formal evening celebration at Daventry Leisure Centre on Thursday 24 October 2019.

People can find out more about the criteria for individual awards and submit a nomination at www.everyoneactive.com/news/daventrysportsawards
