- Daventry Area Crime - Five Males Arrested for Affray
Five males were arrested in the early hours of this morning for affray.
The first two males were arrested on Warwick Street in Daventry, where one of the males was sprayed with PAVA and further arrested for assaulting an emergency worker.
Shortly after, a further 3 males were arrested in the High Street on the same charge after being located by the towns CCTV. One of the males ran off but was quickly caught and arrested.
What is PAVA?

What is Affray?
Affray is a statutory offence created by section 3 of the Public Order Act 1986 which includes:(1) A person is guilty of affray if he uses or threatens unlawful violence towards another and his conduct is such as would cause a person of reasonable firmness present at the scene to fear for his personal safety. What penalty or sentencing can those found Guilty of Affray expect?
According to the Sentencing Council Website, depending on the level of the Affray, anything from a low-level community order through to 12 weeks custody to Crown Court.
