A local canalside gastro-pub is opening its doors to local residents on Monday 10th February for a re-launch of its new look, new chef and new menu.
The Narrowboat on the A5 at Weedon will be serving complimentary Prosecco and canapés from 6.30pm onwards with live music from Newnham band, Charlie Tarry & The Outlaws. There will also be information about the accommodation on offer and a wedding table with sample menus.
New head chef, Julie ‘Jules’ Emmanuel-Hunt, has a 20-year pedigree in the catering industry having worked for other major pub chains in the past. She told Daventry Radio, “Our dining focus is on buying local produce and serving quality food. We buy all of our meat and vegetables from local farms – even herbs and locally produced gin – and we cook everything on-site here at the Narrowboat.”
Although Jules says that her specialty is steak dishes, the restaurant also boasts an extensive vegan and vegetarian menu as well as children’s choices and allergen-free options. Jules said, “The canapés will showcase miniature versions of what we have on our main menu and we want as many local people as possible to come and sample what we have on offer – it’s a free drink and free canapés.”
In 2017, a previous Narrowboat chef, Kirsty Collins, gained national notoriety when she made it through as a quarter finalist in the Masterchef Professional TV show and in 2016 the pub won the best pub ‘roast’ in the Midlands in British Roast Dinner Week.
Pub manager, Richard Antony said, “This is an open invitation to our re-launch and we’d like as many local people to come along as possible. Everyone’s welcome.”
