Daventry News -

Northamptonshire residents are being urged to get the most out of their gardens this autumn by taking advantage of a discount compost bin offer.

Fallen leaves and the cuttings from pruning and trimming can all be composted, providing a free supply of top quality compost to get gardens blooming next year with minimal effort.

Simply throw it in a compost bin and over the winter months it will rot down to produce environmentally friendly compost that when added to the garden will suppress weeds and retain moisture throughout the dry months.

To encourage residents to try home composting, the Northamptonshire Waste Partnership has teamed up with to offer home compost bins from as little as £18.50. Residents can also buy a second composter for just £9.25 thanks to a fantastic ‘buy one get one half price’ offer.

Get composting’s Blackwall and Rainsaver products are made from 100% percent recycled plastic, including a combination of plastics collected by councils from waste segregation sites and kerbside collections as well as industrial waste such as old gas pipes, old wheeled bins and car bumpers.

It also has exclusive offers on a range of other green products, including special offer water butts with buy one get one half price, and a selection of gardening accessories.

Cllr Tim Allebone, Chairman of the Northamptonshire Waste Partnership, said: “Lots of people will be out in their gardens this autumn pruning, trimming and preparing plants and shrubs for next year, so this is a great time to get into composting. It is simple to do and around 30% of the average household waste can be composted.

“Although many households already compost at home, we want others to get involved, and this is a great incentive to encourage more residents to get composting – and even set up their own composting communities!”

The Northamptonshire Waste Partnership (NWP) is a partnership of Northamptonshire councils and was set up to improve joint working arrangements on waste management matters.
