A trip to the Space Needle, a visit to the world-famous Pike Place Market and a ticket to the Seattle Thunderbirds were just some of the activities enjoyed by Kinga Kovacs from Daventry after she jetted off on the trip of a lifetime to Seattle.

Kinga, who works at Amazon in Daventry, made the trip to Seattle after taking part in the I Found the Right Place programme.

The programme invites Amazon employees working across the UK to tell the company why it is the right place for them and what they love most about life at Amazon.

In her entry, Kinga told her story about how her role at Amazon has helped her grow as a person and become more sociable. She believes her job has made her more active outside work and that’s had a hugely positive influence on her life both inside and outside the job.

More than 600 employees from across Amazon’s UK customer fulfilment network took part, with the chance to visit the company’s headquarters in Seattle.

Kinga jetted off to Seattle for a week of fun and adventures, where she joined colleagues from across the UK to have a tour of the global headquarters and a robotics fulfilment centre, where they met Dave Clark, Senior Vice President of Worldwide Operations at Amazon. She also enjoyed lots of food and entertainment at restaurants like FareStart, which helps fund programmes to alleviate poverty and homelessness and gives apprentices real-world job experience.

Speaking on the trip, Kinga said: “This is the first time I’ve visited the US and it did not disappoint – I had an amazing experience! The opportunity to make new friends and visit landmarks like the Space Needle was fantastic, as was our visit to Amazon Campus.

“Visiting Seattle reinforced what I already knew about Amazon – that we have such a diverse and talented team of people around the world. It really was the trip of a lifetime and I’d encourage all of my colleagues at Amazon in Daventry to sign up for next year’s programme.”

Gareth Davies, Site Leader at Amazon in Daventry, added: “Kinga’s story of why she loves working at Amazon was fantastic and we were proud to see her jet off to Seattle on the trip. I Found The Right Place is one of a number of programmes we run at Amazon to recognise and reward the great work our associates do to deliver for our customers. It was great to welcome Kinga home and we loved hearing all about her trip.”

Amazon employees have access to a wide range of benefits, including private medical insurance, life assurance, income protection, subsidised meals, an employee discount, which combined are worth more than £700 annually, as well as a company pension plan.

Amazon also offers employees the opportunity to participate in an innovative programme called Career Choice. Career Choice provides funding for adult education, offering to pre-pay 95% of tuition and associated fees for nationally recognised courses, up to £8,000 over four years.
