Warwickshire Police have attended a number of reports of people swimming in lakes, rivers, reservoirs and quarries over the weekend.
They would like to remind everyone that open water swimming can be extremely dangerous no matter how safe it looks.
We saw the potential consequences of swimming in open water in Warwickshire a couple of years ago and we don’t want to see this happen again.
We would like to remind you of the following:
•While the weather may be warm this doesn’t mean the water will be; it can be very cold.
•While the water may look calm there may be hidden currents.
•It can be difficult to get out; especially in quarries.
•It can be a lot deeper than you think.
•There may be dangers hidden just below the surface that you can’t see, such as broken glass and other rubbish.
•There are unlikely to be lifeguards.
•While it may look clean there may be pollution that can make you ill.Warwickshire Police
