NORTHAMPTONSHIRE CHARITIES RECEIVE BOOST FROM AMAZON DAVENTRY

Two Northamptonshire charities have each received £1,000 in donations from the Amazon fulfilment centre team in Daventry.

The Amazon team donated £1,000 to Re:store Northampton and £1,000 to Northampton Health Charity. Re:store Northampton supports vulnerable people in the community by offering food provisions, children’s clothing and emotional and practical support.

The charity also offers training for vulnerable people to gain skills such as growing their own food and managing money.

It is intended that the donation will be used towards food bank supplies and running costs.

Northampton Health Charity is the registered charity for Northampton General Hospital and the Northamptonshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.

The charity provides funding for equipment, research and staff training to enhance patient care and experience.

The funds have gone towards extra tablet devices for the volunteers service to facilitate video calls between patients and their loved ones, keeping them connected while in hospital and no visiting is allowed.

Speaking on the donations, Gareth Davies, Site Leader at Amazon in Daventry, said:  “We’re pleased to lend a helping hand to two great charities who do so much for people in Northamptonshire.”  Rob Powell, Community Fundraiser, from Northampton Health Charity said: “We’re grateful to receive this donation from Amazon and would like to thank Gareth and the team for supporting us.

Every donation we receive is so important and helps us continue providing the level of care and support that we do.

Thank you again.”   Alex Turtle, from Re:store said: “On behalf of everyone at Re:store, I want to say a big thank you to Gareth and the Amazon team. Donations like this really make a difference to the services and support we can provide.” The donations were made to the charities as part of the “Amazon in the Community” programme, whereby the company supports the communities around its operating locations across the UK. Community donations are one of a number of ways in which Amazon is supporting communities across the UK during COVID-19.

Amazon is providing disadvantaged students with online STEM courses as well as teaming up with charity partner Magic Breakfast and delivering over 2 million healthy breakfasts to families around the UK.
