Dear resident We are here for you,
We want you to know that if you need urgent help or support to get food or medicines in the coming weeks, we are here for you. This letter sets out some important advice on how you can get help if you need it.
If you have received a letter from the NHS
If you have received a letter from the NHS instructing you to stay at home for 12 weeks, you should call the number on the letter. You will get help with food and medical supplies if you need it, and we will contact you to see how you are getting on.
If you are isolated but did not receive an NHS letter
If you have friends or family that can do your shopping for you, then please use them as your first point of contact. If you don’t have friends or family who can help, could you shop online?
Many businesses in the Rugby area are delivering food and groceries. You can find a directory of these businesses, which includes farm shops, grocery and convenience stores, takeaways, and local butchers/bakers at: www.rugby.gov.uk/fooddelivery.
Your pharmacy should be able to arrange to deliver medicines for you.
There are also many neighbourhood community groups which have been set up. They may be willing to help with your shopping, picking up prescriptions or taking your dog for a walk. See www.rugby.gov.uk/communitysupport.
Or, you could see if your local councillor or parish council could put you in touch with someone. You can find your local councillor at www.rugby.gov.uk/findyourcouncillor.
If you have no other way to get shopping
If you have no other way to get your shopping we will not let you down. Contact us on (01788) 533533, or see www.rugby.gov.uk/communityhub.
If you are facing financial hardship you can be referred to the Foodbank by Job Centre Plus or the Council’s Community Advice and Support team. We will ask you some questions about your income and bills to see if you qualify for food vouchers. We can also offer any wider financial support you may need.
If you are able, we would be very grateful for any donations you could make to the Foodbank next time you go shopping. See www.rugby.gov.uk/foodbank for more information.
