Abz Winter releases her latest EP ‘Just Wanna Be Me’ addressing youthful life, friendship, love & honesty.

Out 18th February 2022

Fresh from her appearance as the youngest contestant on the new music game show ‘Walk The Line’ Abz shows us why she was chosen from the 1000’s who auditioned with comments from the judges firstly Gary Barlow saying “You have a beautiful voice” Alesha Dixon saying “I love your vocals, very contemporary, very modern” Craig David continued “You’ve got a really incredible voice” & Dawn French finished off with  “I think you belong on that stage, you’re definitely one to watch”.

Staying ahead of the game, with real-life content in her lyrics, a music style that has that melodic edge and a voice that can go from a Lily Allen style rap / spoken words to a rich powerful belt effortlessly with note-perfect runs to evoke expressions and tell her stories.

The lyrics written during lockdown with time on her hands to think, Abz examines youthful life, friendship & love with honesty.  Although not always on ‘friendly terms’ she uses her words to express her feelings with an innocent vulnerability, whilst remaining in charge of her own destiny – we all know sometimes as humans we have to be unfriendly, you only have so many cheeks to turn! Abz becomes the voice of  “I really wish you wouldn’t do that because I’m going to make you not!” She has the ability to emotionally and vocally carry that paradox to perfection!

As Abz says  ‘Just Wanna Be Me’ which is all she wants,  Abz wants to have the freedom to be herself, not to fit the social norms set out by society, as her logo states  ‘I Am Me You Be You’ a strong powerful message to portray to millennials and generation Z alike.

Abz says ‘I wrote the EP based on different personalities I have come across over the last few years, and how a relationship only works if both sides are equal, but more often than not they are so one-sided – whether it be with a partner, friend or colleague alike’, she continues ‘I have learnt so much in a very short space,  I no longer invest my time and energy to one-sided relationships, life is too short’ Abz finishes by saying “the titles alone define the meaning within the songs and youthful life today”.

The  5 new tracks ‘Bad Thoughts’, ‘Conversations’, ‘Fuck Boy’,  ‘Bye Bitch’ & ‘Just Wanna Be Me’ have an electro-dance / synth beat and strong baseline. The songs were produced by the influential talent Matt Waddell at 14 records and Mixed & Mastered by the musical genius El Sam at Elixir productions.

When you think of the future of post-pandemic music, you know that the music world is having a big switch around. New faces rising with a renaissance from what has felt like a lifetime, re-defining journeys of what is normality and clarity, with female influencers driving empowerment and social media & digital streaming leading to fast changes within the music industry, Abz wants to be heard…..
