Racing Club Warwick is a football club that is based in Warwick, Warwickshire that currently
competes in the Midland League Premier Division. Racing Club Warwick have been in action
since 1919, however, they were not always known by their current name as they were founded
as the Saltisford Rovers. Since their foundation in 1919, Racing Club Warwick have played their
home games at Townsend Meadow a modest ground that holds a capacity of 1,280 in Warwick.
Racing Club Warwick or otherwise known by their nickname ‘The Racers’ currently have Gary
Vella sitting as the club chairman, while Scott Easterlow currently manages the first team.
Racing Club Warwick started off their playing career in various local leagues that included the
Warwick League, Leamington & District League and the Warwick Combination League. The
Racers featured in these three leagues up until 1967 winning achieving multiple honours which
included one of the most notable wins in their history which saw them beat Birmingham City in
the Senior Cup Final at St Andrew’s Stadium. In 1970, Racing Club Warwick changed their
name to what it remains currently during the same year that they moved into the West Midlands
Regional League. Not too long after, Warwick switched to the Midland Combination League
where they won the title in 1988 and then finished runners-up the following year. The Racers
gained promotion into the Southern League in 1990 but quickly suffered relegation into the
Midland Football Alliance. After 30 years, Racing Club Warwick gained their first promotion in
2018/19 and has plans on building a 3g pitch in the summer of 2020.
Racing Club Warwick recorded their biggest win on the 26th December 2016 when they
secured a huge 15-0 win against a fellow league opposition. 2018/19 where big years for
Racing Club Warwick as they officially set-up their youth team that competes in the Midland
Floodlight Youth League. On top of this, Racing Club Warwick also have formed their very own
football academy that is run by Future Pro and fields teams in the National League U19’s.
