Tarantula Stolen, Whilton Locks

Daventry Area Crime -

A Tarantula Spider has been stolen from a locked terrarium at Whilton Locks Garden Centre.

In a Statement her owners have said; We have had our precious shop pet ‘Desi’ the Desert Blonde Tarantula stolen from her locked terrarium, inside our reptile room on Saturday 13th July between 1.30pm and 2.30pm.
We have the whole incident on CCTV including the suspects face. We will be handing this over to the Northamptonshire Police and as soon as they have given us the okay we will be releasing the CCTV footage of the incident.
‘Desi’ is a well loved spider and she loves to come out for our cuddle sessions. She has helped hundreds of children and adults alike to conquer their fear of spiders, she truly is a special girl.
We are absolutely gutted that she has been taken and are pleading for her back, her safety is our main concern.
We appreciate tarantulas aren’t for everyone but we care greatly for all our animals and this has affected us all very personally, we would appreciate if comments were kept useful and informative.
On that note, if anyone has any information about this please get in touch with us as soon as you can. We will update on the situation as soon as we can.
Thank you.’
