Here we explore some of the reasons you may wish to have your children join our weekly children’s yoga classes…
Yoga teacher, Nikki Andrews of Bee at One Yoga, explains:

“As a primary teacher with over 20 years teaching experience and as a Special needs co-ordinator I have seen first-hand children struggling to cope with life in the 21st Century.

“Yoga and mindfulness for children has so many benefits especially in this fast-paced world. Between pressures from school, extra-curricular activities, social media and modern technology, the hustle and bustle of everyday life can lead to a whole lot of stress and anxiety.

“I provide a safe space for children to be themselves with no expectation or judgement helping them to understand how they feel, providing them with the tools and skills they require for the future. We all need the space to just BE, to relax away from demands and be able to develop our inner strengths.

“Yoga means ‘union’, to join together – the joining of body, heart and mind.

Yoga for children has so many amazing benefits….
• Builds concentration
• Improves self-image
• Develops awareness of the body through poses (asanas) and the use of breath to calm and relax.
• Helps to manage stress and emotions
• Helps to develop self-regulation
• Develops perseverance and resilience
• Inclusive physical activity for all
• Relieves anxiety
• Improves flexibility
• Helps improve problem solving
• Calms the central nervous system and therefore the body
• Give children tools to help them cope enabling them to learn during stressful times
• Helps children to understand themselves therefore increasing confidence and self-awareness
• Supports curriculum learning through themes
• Develops imagination, language and creativity
• The principles of Yoga teach kindness, sharing, compassion, mindfulness, awareness, and much more. Tools that will serve them for the rest of their lives!
