Earlier today we asked for local stories and photos of the areas War Effort and consequent VE Day Celebrations.

Joanne Diprose sent in the following story about her childrens great grandmother, Gladys Faulkner whom is now 96.

Gladys joined the Land Army in 1941 and went to Brayfield on the market garden for 6 months.

Work dried up so she left and went to Boughton Mill Farm doing milking and relief driving on the daily milk round was there 12 months and then was asked to go to Ravensthorpe for the next 3 and a half years until she had finished her service in April 1946.

During her time at Ravensthorpe she did milking and general farm work at Botany Farm.

Joanne Diprose writes about her childrens Grandmother, Gladys Faulkner.

Included in the images is a letter from former Prime Minister Gordon Brown Thanking Gladys for her service.
