The Family History Group at Canons Ashby (National Trust) are looking to add to their team of volunteers and have made an appeal for help from anyone interested in genealogy.
Canons Ashby is one of the very few National trust properties in the ‘Middle England’ area and has a long tradition of involvement with local communities. Many of its volunteers come from the Daventry district and nearby towns and villages. Benefits of being a National Trust volunteer include discounts at NT shops and properties as well as free membership for the volunteer or a family member.
The Canons Ashby Family History Group will be starting their new season at Easter and are keen to have some extra volunteers for the 2019 season.
The role involves helping visitors get started with their own family history, mainly using Ancestry.com, on an informal one-to-one basis. It would suit anyone who has had a go at this themselves and who enjoys interesting conversations with visitors.
If you would be interested in volunteering for one or two days per month, or if you have family members or friends who are keen on family history and would like to become volunteers, please contact Nick Hall for more information: nickhall1952@hotmail.co.uk
