Witness Appeal after Charity Box Smash and Grab

Daventry Area Crime -

Well respected and long established business Michael’s Golden Chippy was broken into in the early hours of this morning (5/1/20). A front window was smashed with a brick and charity boxes taken.

Business owner Mario Forgione has asked for anyone with information to come forward or contact the police in confidence and beleives the robbery took place at around 1.30 in the morning. CCTV is being studied and the police are making enquiries.

Mario told Daventry Radio, “We’ve had a bit of a tough start to the week with some equipment that needed replacing, and for the sake of a couple of quid that was left in the jars, it really is heartbreaking.”

Michael’s Golden Chippy has a good reputation amongst Daventry residents and has occupied the same building on the Headland Estate for over 25 years. The Forgione family are always active helping with fund raisers and charity events for various causes and Mario expressed how thankful he was for the outpouring of support and help provided by friends and customers.

Anyone with information should contact Crime Stoppers on 0800 555 111
